Sorry Yankees, This World Series Isn't For Sale!

When you think of the New York Yankees, you think of two things. Winning and money.

Every chance the Yankees could, they would throw out as much money as possible to ensure they got every top free agent such as Jason Giambi, Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, and trading for Giancarlo Stanton this past offseason, and these are just the more recent ones. It worked for many years but in this generation of baseball, it doesn't work anymore. Teams are stacking up the farm systems and planning more than ever for the future.

At the beginning of the 2018 season, the Yankees were World Series contenders who had just come off an ALCS appearance in 2017. Fast forward to July and they remained one of the best teams in the leagues, but in true Yankee fashion, decided that wasn't enough and tried to trade for the entire league.

A team with the best bullpen in baseball went out and made an almost pointless trade for Zach Britton. This trade was nothing more than making sure no one else in baseball got him. Two days later they trade for J.A. Happ, who is now out for the rest of the season. The next day they make a trade with the Cardinals for Luke Voit and on July 31 they get Lance Lynn from Minnesota. Now, yesterday they trade for Andrew McCutchen.

Now, I'm in no way saying you shouldn't try to make your team better, I mean you are trying to win the fall classic, but do any of these players really make your star-studded team better? The answer is no!

Brian Cashman and company are doing what they have done in recent years which is PANIC and in the process hurting the Yankees Farm System. The new age Yankees are finding out they can't just throw money at every free agent and get them and are now having to take the trade route for players.

All together they traded away 12 prospects this trade season. The only thing they will have to show for it if they don't win the Series is Luke Voit and a lot of missing money as Britton, Lynn, Happ, and McCutchen are all free agents after this season.

The Bronx Bombers are as talented as they get with Stanton and Judge leading the way. They have the best bullpen in baseball and a very good starting staff. All together it just might be enough to win a World Series. They didn't need to make all these silly trades and get rid of all these assets. Brian Cashman needs to be confident in his team, take a deep breath, and enjoy the fact the Yankees are back to their winning ways.
